BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The men's track and field team opened its indoor season with an impressive display at the Illinois Wesleyan Titan First Chance Meet, headlined by two first-place finishes from the Panthers. Ty Kellum and
Neko Gibson helped give the Panthers a strong start to the season with their event titles.
How it Happened:
In the 60m dash, Kellum claimed the title with a 6.96s sprint after qualifying with a 7.03s time. Gibson followed closely in third place, posting a 6.98s.
Gibson was also the 200m champion, running a 23.04s for first.
Leonard Bratton took second in the triple jump with a 13.62m leap, while
Jared Klein placed sixth (12.80m).
In the 400m,
Noel Andino ran a 51.35s for fourth place, and
Jaylin Morrow posted a 53.25s for seventh.
John Gustafson (800m; 2:15.14),
Chris Green-Williams (60m hurdles; 10.63s),
Will Cress (high jump; 1.80m) ,
Isaiah Petersen (pole vault; 3.81m), and
Eric Mitchell (shot put; 13.69m) all claimed the fifth-place spot in their events.
Up Next:
The Panthers don't compete again until the New Year when they travel to Eastern Illinois for a meet on January 17th.
