Greenville University athletics announces staff promotions and new assignments

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The Greenville University athletic department officially announced a series of changes in the administration of the department effective as of June 1. The school recently won its first SLIAC all-sports trophy as the institution producing the highest average finish in the conference standings and will look to support the ongoing efforts of enhancing the Greenville student-athlete experiences with position changes for 10 individuals in advance of the 2024-25 academic year.

After seven years as Director of Athletics and 22 years as Head Women's Volleyball Coach, Tom Ackerman will transition to the role of Vice President for Athletics. He will continue coaching the women's volleyball team while expanding his responsibilities to include athletic fundraising to bolster resources needed into the future.

Doug Faulkner will move from his faculty position to serve as Associate Vice President and Chief of Staff for Athletics, marking his 37th year at Greenville University.

Stephanie Brant, our Spirit Program Director for the past two years, will take on additional duties as Associate Director of Athletics as she enters her third year.

Rob Clark will assume a new role as Assistant Director of Athletics for Marketing and Engagement after two years on campus.

In addition, Johnny Garvilla and Brett Brannon will transition from the advancement office to the athletic department with a focus on reaching athletic alumni and friends that will grow our fundraising capabilities. Brannon continues as the head coach for the men's and women's tennis teams as he begins his 24th year in Greenville Athletics.

Emily Butler will step into the role of Senior Woman Administrator and will continue as Head Men's Volleyball Coach while adding assistant coaching duties for women's volleyball in her second year back at Greenville.

Additionally, two of our head coaches will take on new appointments.

Roy Mulholland will move from his faculty position to serve as Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach alongside his current role as Head Women's Basketball Coach. The golf programs will begin competition in the 2025-26 academic year.

Brian Patton will add oversight of NCAA compliance to his responsibilities as Head Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track and Field Coach in his 31st year at Greenville.

"These changes reflect Greenville University's commitment to excellence and growth in our athletic programs," said Ackerman. "I am confident that these talented individuals will continue to contribute positively to our community."
