COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Greenville University women's soccer team continued its road swing Wednesday evening, falling 1-0 to Stephens College at Battle High School.
The Saints scored the match's lone goal just 3:20 into the contest when Amaura Austell found the back of the net, giving the home side an early advantage that would ultimately stand as the game-winner.
Despite facing consistent pressure throughout the evening, the Panthers' defense settled in after the early score and kept the match within reach.
Goalkeeper Kadnyce Jones turned in a strong performance between the posts, recording eight saves on nine shots on goal.
Stephens finished with a 16-0 advantage in total shots and earned nine corner kicks, but Jones and the Greenville back line repeatedly denied additional scoring opportunities.
Greenville's defense was led by a back line that included

Ashlyn Wuebbels,
Avery Rahden, and
Kaytie McBride, while several Panthers provided valuable minutes off the bench, including
Lucia Altadonna,
Josie Sanchez,
Bianca Rochkes,

The Panthers were unable to generate an offensive opportunity against the Saints defense, which did not allow a shot on goal during the match.
With the result, Greenville moves to 0-6 overall on the season, and the team will next play at Millikin on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
