LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The softball team kicked off postseason play in the semifinals of the SLIAC Tournament on Thursday afternoon, erupting for ten runs in the sixth for a come-from-behind win against Blackburn.
How it Happened:
Blackburn took an early lead in the top of the first but Greenville quickly responded in the second with an RBI double from
Sarah Salas to make it a 1-1 ball game.Â
In the fourth, the Beavers jumped ahead 3-1 and stayed there until the bottom of the sixth. As the game neared an end, the Panthers fought back with a late-game surge.Â
After
Makenna Budde and Salas drew walks,
Brooklyn Garrett loaded the bases with a two-out single.
Emma Williams came to the plate, tying up the game with her two-run single.Â
The Panthers broke it open after that, seeing key RBI hits from
Rylee Bloomer,
Emma Longcor, and
Anna Cox. Greenville tacked on some more insurance runs to shortgame the Beavers in the bottom of the sixth.Â
At the plate, Budde and Salas led GU with two hits a piece, while Salas picked up the win in the circle. Salas struck out two and only walked one over her six innings.Â
