MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The men's tennis team brought home the UMAC Championship title after defeating Bethany Lutheran 4-0 in the semifinals and beating Wis.-Superior 4-0 in the finals.
How It Happened:
In the semis, the Panthers dominated doubles play, sweeping all three courts to take a 1-0 team lead.
Jean Sanabria and
Colton Hulme highlighted the effort with a strong 6-2 win on Court No. 2.
Sanabria carried that momentum into singles, earning a decisive 6-2, 6-1 victory on Court No. 1.
Patrick Nobbe followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win on Court No. 5, and
Noah Garcia Barlagne clinched the match on Court No. 4 with a 6-4, 6-3 victory.
In the championship on Saturday, Greenville dropped the #1 doubles but rallied to claim the doubles point. Jean Sanabria and Colton Hulme won 6–4 at #2, and Noah Garcia Barlagne with Kai Gustafson sealed it with another 6–4 win at #3.
Greenville dominated singles to close the match. Hulme rolled 6–0, 6–2 at #2, while Jade Dynamic added a 6–4, 6–0 win at #3. Francisco Trujillo clinched the title at #6 with a 6–0, 7–6 (7–4) victory.
Three other matches went unfinished, with Greenville competitive across the board. The sweep secures the conference title and sends Greenville into the NCAA tournament with momentum.
