ST. LOUIS, MO. – The men's tennis team competed in the UMAC South Tournament on Friday, defeating Principia 4-0 and MUW 4-1 to advance to the finals as the No. 1 seed next weekend.
How it Happened:
In the semifinals, Greenville defeated a short-handed Principia team that had only five healthy players.
Jade Dynamic and Paco Trujillo contributed a 6-0 win on Court No. 2 to help secure the doubles point, aided by a walkover at No. 3.
In singles,
Colton Hulme and
Patrick Nobbe both delivered flawless performances, each winning 6-0, 6-0.
Noah Garcia Barlagne capped the match with a 6-0, 6-1 victory to send the Panthers to the championship match.
Against MUW, Greenville edged out a tightly contested doubles point with wins on Courts No. 2 and No. 3. Garcia Barlagne and
Kai Gustafson were victorious on Court No. 3 with a 6-4 win, while Dynamic and Trujillo clinched the point with a 7-6 victory.
Singles play proved just as competitive, with four of the six matches going to a third set. Hulme once again controlled his match, winning 6-4, 6-1 on Court No. 3, while Garcia Barlagne finished his strong day with a straight-set win on Court No. 4. Dynamic ultimately clinched the match for the Panthers with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 victory on Court No. 2.

Greenville (18-6, 4-0 UMAC) travels to Minneapolis next weekend to compete for the UMAC title.
