Softball trumps Ripon in non-conference doubleheader

GREENVILLE, Ill. – Greenville softball powered its way to a doubleheader sweep over Ripon on Tuesday, using explosive offense and timely pitching to secure 12-4 and 7-5 victories.

How it Happened:

In game one, the Panthers dominated from the start, scoring in five consecutive innings while piling up 17 hits. Anna Cox went 4-for-5 with two RBIs, while Emma Longcor and Rylee Bloomer each recorded three-hit performances. Kelsey Martlage added two doubles and two RBIs.

Greenville built an 8-0 lead before Ripon answered with four runs in the fifth, but the Panthers quickly responded with insurance runs to put the game away. Sarah Salas earned the win, allowing just two earned runs over five innings.

Game two tested Greenville's resilience after falling behind 5-0 early. The Panthers answered in a big way in the third inning, highlighted by Makenna Budde's game-tying grand slam. Budde finished with four RBIs, while Longcor and Emma Williams each contributed multi-hit efforts to keep the offense rolling.

In the circle, Lauren Kehl was outstanding in relief, shutting down Ripon over the final 3.2 innings while allowing just one hit and striking out three to earn the win.

Across both games, Greenville combined for 27 hits and showcased depth throughout the lineup. The Panthers' ability to respond to adversity and produce timely offense proved key in completing the sweep.
