GREENVILLE, Ill. – Greenville softball earned a split in Saturday's doubleheader against MUW, highlighted by a dominant performance in game one.
How it Happened:
The Panthers opened the day with a 4-0 victory behind a stellar outing from
Sarah Salas. The left-hander was nearly untouchable, tossing a one-hit shutout while striking out nine to lead Greenville to the win.
Offensively, the Panthers broke through in the third inning with three runs, sparked by RBI efforts from
Makenna Budde,
Ashlyn Colvis, and
Anna Cox.
Emma Williams added an insurance run in the fourth as Greenville totaled 10 hits in the contest, with multiple players contributing at the plate.
In game two, Greenville was unable to recover from an early deficit, falling 12-0. Despite the result, the Panthers collected hits from
Rylee Bloomer,
Emma Longcor, Cox, and
Aylexis Otto.
Greenville's strong pitching and timely hitting in the opener set the tone for the day, as the Panthers continue to showcase their ability to compete at a high level in conference play. With her outstanding performance on the mound, Salas earned SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week!Â
