CHAMPAIGN, Ill.- The Greenville men's gymnastics team traveled to the University of Illinois Friday, to compete as a team in the NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships. The Panthers finished in 10th place out of twelve teams, posting a score of 307.059.
How it Happened:
Greenville opened on high bar with a team score of 48.832, led by senior
Donovan Diviney's12.766. On floor, Clapper paced the Panthers with a 13.200. They carried that momentum into pommel horse, posting a strong team score of 52.365, with Hinson leading the way at 13.266.
On rings,
Ethan Poole and
Sergey Popov each posted matching scores of 12.733 to help Greenville to a 49.799 team total. On vault (52.733), Clapper again posted the team's highest score with an impressive 13.800. Greenville closed out the meet on parallel bars, once again led by Clapper, helping secure a final team score of 307.059.
Clapper and Hinson qualified as individuals to the finals on Saturday, but unfortunately, both Panthers were unable to complete their routines due to injury.
Hinson picked up CGA MVP of the Year, while the Panthers' coaching staff earned CGA Regional Coaches of the Year awards.
