GREENVILLE, Ill. – Greenville swept a SLIAC conference doubleheader over Blackburn on Tuesday, using explosive offense in both games to earn 10-7 and 9-5 victories and improve to 20-8 overall and 7-1 in league play.
How it Happened:
In game one with rainy conditions, Greenville overcame an early 4-0 deficit with a dominant seven-run first inning.
Emma Longcor jumpstarted the rally with a solo home run, while
Sarah Salas and
Brooklyn Garrett each drove in runs to keep the momentum going.
Rylee Bloomer capped the inning with a two-RBI double. Salas later added a three-run homer in the fourth to extend the lead.
Lauren Kehl earned the win in the circle, and Salas secured the save with three strong innings of relief.
Game two featured another balanced offensive effort. Greenville broke through in the third inning with RBI singles from
Ashlyn Colvis and
Anna Cox. After Blackburn narrowed the gap,
Makenna Budde's solo home run and a five-run sixth inning put the game out of reach. Longcor delivered the biggest blow with a grand slam in the sixth.
Kayla Kocher picked up her tenth win of the season, while Kehl again closed the door to earn the save.
Greenville totaled 19 runs and 25 hits across the doubleheader.Â
