GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Greenville softball team displayed power at the plate and competitive grit in their home opener doubleheader against Illinois College on Tuesday but ultimately fell short in both games.
How it Happened:
In game one, Greenville's offense was sparked by solo home runs from
Ashlyn Colvis and
Anna Cox. Colvis led the Panthers with three hits, having a strong day at the plate. Despite trailing early, Greenville chipped away and stayed within striking distance, showcasing their ability to respond against tough pitching.
Kayla Kocher threw 6.0 innings, receiving the loss, before
Madison Lupton relieved her in the seventh.
Greenville struck first in the second game as Cox delivered an RBI single in the opening inning. The Panthers battled defensively and kept the contest close throughout, with
Lauren Kehl turning in a complete-game effort in the circle and striking out six.
Across the doubleheader, Greenville highlighted its power potential and resilience, competing in every inning.
