GREENVILLE, Ill. – Greenville split a Saturday tri-match inside H.J. Long Gymnasium, falling to Wittenberg in the opener before rallying for an impressive four-set victory over Bryant & Stratton.
How it Happened:
In the first match, Greenville battled but dropped a 3-0 decision to Wittenberg (25-18, 25-17, 25-18).
Tyrone Ealy led the Panthers with eight kills, while
Andrew Weir added five kills and three total blocks.
Kevin McGhee Jr. dished out eight assists, and the Panthers recorded nine tie scores and five lead changes across the match. Despite strong defensive efforts at the net, Greenville hit .015 as a team against Wittenberg's efficient .343 attack percentage.
The Panthers responded in the afternoon with a 3-1 comeback win over Bryant & Stratton (11-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-19). After a slow start in the opening set, Greenville found its rhythm offensively, highlighted by a dominant .483 hitting percentage in the fourth set.
Ealy paced the attack with 14 kills on .423 hitting, while
Bo Parker added nine kills and
Spencer Kelmel chipped in six. McGhee Jr. distributed 15 assists and
John Heater V tacked on 22, while
Jay Ramirez anchored the back row with eight digs.
Greenville's balanced offense and late-match surge secured the team's fourth win of the season.
