ST. MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. – Greenville men's volleyball pushed one of the top teams to the brink Wednesday evening, battling Saint Mary-of-the-Woods in a four-set thriller before falling 25-22, 25-22, 24-26, 25-18 at the Knoerle Center.
How it Happened:
The Panthers showed resilience all match, highlighted by a clutch third-set victory. Trailing 2-0, Greenville responded with poise, hitting .107 in the frame and closing strong to claim a 26-24 win. The match featured 28 ties and 15 lead changes, reflecting just how competitive the contest remained throughout.
Sam Molitor led Greenville with 12 kills on .400 hitting, while
Tyrone Ealy added 10 kills.Â
Cortez Christmas chipped in seven with a .313 percentage.
Jay Ramirez anchored the defense with 12 digs as the Panthers totaled 33 on the evening, while
Kevin McGhee Jr. (15) and
John Heater V (20) ran the offense with their assists.
Greenville's balanced attack and improved efficiency kept pressure on a 14-1 opponent, especially in the middle sets. The Panthers will aim to carry that momentum forward as they continue to sharpen their game against strong competition.
