INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Greenville women's tennis team earned its first win of the spring in impressive fashion on Friday afternoon, defeating Taylor (Ind.) 5-2 at the Indianapolis Racquet Club East.
How it Happened:
Greenville set the tone early by taking two of three doubles matches to grab the momentum. In the No. 1 spot,
Irlanda Oliver and
Emily Kowalke dominated with a 6-1 victory. The Panthers also picked up a key win at No. 2 doubles as
Lanie Carder and
Lily Gregory battled past Evy Danemayer and Ellie Schaufelberger, 6-4.
With a 1-0 lead heading into singles, Greenville continued to roll. Carder secured a straight-set win at No. 2 singles, 7-5, 6-0, while Kowalke added another point with a tiebreak-win at No. 3.
Oliver delivered one of the day's biggest performances at No. 1, rallying for a victory.
Elena Warren sealed the match at No. 6 singles, winning 6-4, 6-1.
Greenville's balanced lineup and strong doubles play powered a complete team victory.
