GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's basketball team put together a dominating performance against the visiting Westminster Blue Jays on Wednesday evening at H.J. Long. The Panthers rolled past their SLIAC competitors 76-51.
How it Happened:
The Panthers set the tone early, holding the Blue Jays to just seven points in the opening quarter while jumping out to a 17-7 lead. Greenville continued to control the pace in the second period, taking a 35-17 advantage into halftime behind efficient shooting and active defense.
Greenville's best stretch came in the third quarter. The Panthers poured in 25 points while limiting Westminster to 16, pushing the lead to 60-33 and effectively putting the game away.
Alyssa Seymour led the way with 16 points and five rebounds, going a perfect 6-for-6 at the free-throw line.
Adeline Goheen added 15 points, knocking down two threes and finishing 7-for-8 from the stripe.
Amelia Shoemaker chipped in 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds, while
Mia deJesus scored nine and grabbed six boards.
Greenville shot 49 percent from the field and won the rebounding battle 42-33, while the defense forced Westminster into 28.1 percent shooting on the night.
