FULTON, Mo. — Greenville men's volleyball faced a tough road test Wednesday night, falling 3-0 to Westminster (Mo.). The Panthers put up a fight late in the match, having their highest-scoring set of the game in the final duel.
How it Happened:
Despite the straight-set result (25-14, 25-15, 25-19), the Panthers showed flashes of growth against an experienced Westminster squad that entered the match with an 11-2 record.
Greenville battled to stay within striking distance throughout the night and produced its strongest set in the finale, trimming the margin to six and forcing longer rallies as the match wore on.
Greenville was led offensively by a balanced attack.
Tyrone Ealy and
Sam Molitor each posted four kills, while
Andrew Weir and
Carson Hulsey also added four apiece.
Bo Parker provided an efficient spark, recording four kills on just five attempts while hitting .600.
Setter
John Heater V directed the offense with 19 assists. Defensively,
Jay Ramirez anchored the back row with a team-high nine digs, and Ealy added four more. Greenville also finished with two total blocks as the Panthers looked to slow Westminster's hitters.
Greenville will look to build off its third-set momentum as it continues its season.
