JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - Greenville women's soccer showed flashes of dominance and resilience in their two mid-week match ups, earning a thrilling 2-1 win over Illinois College on Tuesday before narrowly falling 2-1 to Covenant on Thursday evening.
How it Happened:
In Jacksonville, the Panthers earned their second win of the season behind a standout effort from junior
Angie Russo. Russo assisted the opening goal in the 19th minute by
Ashlie Johnston Cabral and later delivered the game-winner in the 89th minute, burying a clutch shot to silence the home crowd.

Madison Ashford turned away six shots in a composed performance, while Greenville made the most of their eight total shots.
Two days later at Covenant, Greenville continued to fight, with senior
Sarina Castillo scoring her first goal of the season just before halftime to tie the game 1-1.

Mia Long picked up the assist, delivering a key pass to Russo.
Covenant reclaimed the lead in the 55th minute however. Despite outshooting the Scots 13-12, Greenville couldn't convert a late equalizer.
