GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Greenville University women's soccer team fought hard in their home opener but fell 4-1. Senior goalkeeper, Madison Ashford, made six saves, keeping the Panthers competitive early. Offensively, Jordyn Smith converted a penalty kick, showcasing the team's ability to respond under pressure.
How it Happened:
1st Half
The Panthers came out strong with multiple shots on goal. Ashford's steady presence in goal kept Greenville in the match throughout the half. Smith's penalty kick in the 40th minute tied the game.
2nd Half
Though Greenville faced tough defense, they continued to press forward with attempts from Ava Pollard, Allyson Schulz, and Dillyn Baer. The team made several strategic substitutions to spark energy and maintain momentum.
