NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. - The men's tennis team had a great outing at the Transylvania Winter Classic, winning two of three matches. They defeated Transylvania 7-0 and Anderson (Ind.) 5-2, but dropped their match against Ohio Northern (4-3).
Match 1 vs. Transylvania
#1 and #3 doubles won their matches to take the decision, while all six singles defeated their opponents.
Andres Sanchez and Rafael Rodriguez won their doubles match 6-3, along with Clark Kent and Jean Sanabria. Unfortunately, Francisco Trujillo and Jade Dynamic lost 7-5 in their doubles match.
Sanchez, Colton Hulme, Kent, and Sanabria all took their singles in two sets.
Rodriguez and Trujillo took their matches to three sets, winning in the tiebreak.
Match 2 vs. Ohio Northern
Sanchez and Rodriguez managed to win their doubles match 6-3, but the Panthers didn't walk away with the doubles W.
In singles, Sanchez, Kent, and Sanabria brought home wins with Kent winning his in a tiebreak set.
Rodriguez and Hulme both fought hard but lost in a tiebreak in their matches.
Match 3 vs. Anderson (Ind.)
Although the Panthers didn't win doubles, their singles victories boosted them over the Ravens.
Kent and Dynamic won their doubles match 6-3.
Singles two through six dominated, winning their matches by a large game margin.
Sanchez, at the number one spot, dropped his match in the tiebreak 11-9.
