CARLINVILLE, Ill. — Greenville continued its dominance in SLIAC play on Saturday, sweeping Blackburn and defeating Webster to remain perfect in conference action at 8-0.
How it Happened:
The Panthers opened the day with a commanding 3-0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-13) win over Blackburn.
Outside hitter
Abby Grohmann led the attack with thirteen kills on an impressive .579 hitting percentage, while
Elaina Evers and
Mia deJesus added eleven and eight kills respectively.
Setter
Emma Ratermann distributed 35 assists as Greenville hit a scorching .430 as a team, dominating the net and backcourt alike.
In their second match, Greenville battled back from a slow start to take down Webster 3-1 (21-25, 25-14, 25-19, 25-12).
Grohmann once again powered the offense with eighteen kills, and Evers chipped in twelve more.
Ratermann tallied 44 assists and 5 digs, while
Claudia Bonacorsi anchored the defense with 22 digs.
Greenville's balance shone through as the Panthers hit .275 as a team while holding Webster to just .133.
With the two wins, Greenville stays atop the SLIAC standings and continues to build momentum heading into the final stretch of conference play.
