COLUMBIA, Miss. – Greenville men's soccer fought hard Saturday afternoon to earn a 1-1 draw against MUW, thanks to a late first-half goal from
Andres Garcia and a resilient defensive effort.
How it Happened:
1st Half
Greenville controlled much of the action early, creating several scoring opportunities.
The breakthrough came in the 44th minute when
Andres Garcia finished a well-placed assist from
David Vicente to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
Goalkeeper
Dominick Messer was solid throughout, helping Greenville maintain their advantage.
2nd Half
The home team quickly responded with an equalizer early in the second half. Both teams battled fiercely for the remainder of the match, with Greenville's defense holding strong.
Late in the game, Greenville pushed hard for a win, with
Richard Kerwer and
Andres Garcia each firing shots on goal in the 85th and 88th minutes respectively, both saved by the opposing keeper. Despite the pressure, neither team could break the tie.
