Women's basketball falls short in close matchup against Rose-Hulman

GREENVILLE, Ill. - Despite a valiant effort and a strong performance from some key players, the Panthers were unable to clinch a victory against Rose-Hulman. Greenville fell 63-54 in a hard-fought battle against the Fightin' Engineers. 

How it Happened:

The game began on a promising note for Greenville, with the Panthers leading 15-14 after the first quarter.

However, Rose-Hulman's surge in the second quarter, where they outscored Greenville 22-14, proved to be a turning point.

Despite a strong defensive effort and a determined comeback in the third quarter, Greenville couldn't quite close the gap.

In the fourth quarter, the Panthers were outscored 19-14, sealing their fate as Rose-Hulman extended their lead to secure the win.

Standout Performances:

  • Carolina Hoffman shone brightest for Greenville, leading the team with sixteen points. Her aggressiveness was evident as she made seven of her ten free-throw attempts.
  • Baylie Joiner added nine points and pulled down five rebounds, providing solid support both offensively and defensively.
  • Mya Mann contributed seven points and dished out four assists, while also collecting four steals.

Greenville's effort on the boards was commendable, with the Panthers outrebounding Rose-Hulman 45-43. Alyssa Seymour and Cortney Brummer were particularly effective, combining for sixteen rebounds.
