Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Greenville falls to Dominican (Ill.) on the road

WHEATON, Ill. – The Greenville University women's soccer team dropped a 5-0 decision to Dominican University Friday evening at Joe Bean Stadium.

The Panthers battled throughout the match behind a strong effort from goalkeeper Kadynce Jones, who recorded 10 saves while facing 26 Dominican shots.

Greenville's lone shot on goal came in the 23rd minute when Avery Rahden tested Dominican goalkeeper Meadow Pratt.

Dominican struck first in the seventh minute when Grace Durante finished a cross from Ariana Barney to give the Stars a 1-0 lead.

The home side added two more goals before halftime, including a corner-kick sequence goal by Renna Gravenhof and a penalty kick conversion by Tia Garr, taking a 3-0 advantage into the break.

The Stars added two second-half goals on free kicks from Mackenzie Cuddihy and Azara Waite to complete the scoring.

Greenville's defense was kept busy throughout the evening, with Jones making several key saves.

Defenders Kaytie McBride, Peyton Turner, Ashlyn Wuebbels, Alexa Chavez, and Brady Unger logged significant minutes as Greenville worked to slow Dominican's attack.

The Panthers earned one corner kick in the second half and continued to compete until the final whistle despite the deficit.

Greenville moves to 0-2 on the season and will look to bounce back in its next match on Saturday against Aurora.
