EUREKA, Ill. - Baseball completed a dominant doubleheader sweep over Eureka on Tuesday after falling to the Red Devils earlier in the season. The Panthers used timely hitting and strong pitching to secure 9-2 and 4-1 victories.
How it Happened:
In game one, Greenville broke open a scoreless contest with a four-run seventh inning and never looked back.
Joseph Guzman delivered a key two-RBI single to spark the rally, while
Matt Rocco added three hits and two RBIs to pace the offense.
Landyn Smith also contributed three hits as the Panthers totaled 12 in the game.
On the mound,
Jonathan Bowser was outstanding, tossing six innings with seven strikeouts while allowing just one run to earn the win. Greenville added insurance late, plating five runs across the eighth and ninth innings to seal the 9-2 victory.
Game two followed a similar script, as Greenville capitalized on Eureka miscues in a decisive sixth inning.
Snyder Pennington and
Bryce Hayes each drove in runs during the four-run frame, with Hayes delivering a two-RBI single.
Despite being outhit, Greenville made the most of its opportunities.
Dawson Hope turned in a strong start, going seven innings and allowing just one unearned run, while
Gavin Ipanis closed the door for his second save.
