STEENS, Miss. – The Greenville baseball team battled throughout a competitive three-game SLIAC series against MUW, highlighted by a strong offensive showing and a series-opening victory.
How it Happened:
Greenville set the tone in game one with an 8-6 win, powered by a breakout performance from
Alejandro Martinez. The sophomore went 3-for-5 with a home run, double, and four RBIs, including a go-ahead three-run blast in the fifth inning.
Landyn Smith added three hits and two runs, while
Jalen Inlow drove in two.
Jonathan Bowser earned the win on the mound, and
Gavin Ipanis secured the save as the Panthers held off a late MUW push.
In game two, Greenville showed early fight, rallying to tie the game behind a two-RBI single from
Colton Oelze and aggressive baserunning. Despite the effort, MUW capitalized on defensive miscues to pull away late.
The series finale was another tightly contested battle, with Greenville grabbing a 3-2 lead in the seventh on an RBI single from
Joseph Guzman. The Panthers' pitching staff kept them in control deep into the game, but MUW walked it off in extra innings.
Greenville's resilience and offensive firepower were on display throughout the series as they continue conference play.
