GREENVILLE, Ill. – Greenville baseball put together a strong offensive showing but came up just short in a 4-3 loss to Rose-Hulman on Wednesday evening.
How it Happened:
The Panthers outhit Rose-Hulman 10-9 and showed power at the plate, highlighted by solo home runs from
Landyn Smith and
Alejandro Martinez. Smith tied the game in the fourth inning with a blast to left-center, while Martinez gave Greenville a 3-1 lead with his homer in the sixth.
Greenville also received key contributions from
Bryce Hayes and
Joseph Guzman, who each recorded multi-hit performances. Hayes drove in a run in the fifth inning to help the Panthers take the lead.
On the mound,
Kale Cameron and
Austin Moses combined for six solid innings, limiting Rose-Hulman to just one unearned run while keeping Greenville in control through the middle innings.
Rose-Hulman rallied in the seventh with a two-run single to even the score before adding the go-ahead solo home run in the ninth.
Despite the result, Greenville's balanced offensive attack and steady pitching effort kept the Panthers competitive throughout.
