GREENVILLE, Ill. – Greenville baseball took a prominent game-one win in its home conference series against Lyon, but ultimately dropped the series 2-1.
How it Happened:
The Panthers opened the series with an impressive 13-7 win, using a pair of big innings to pull away.
Bryce Hayes led the offensive surge, going 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and four RBIs.
Greenville erupted for four runs in the fourth and added six more in the fifth, highlighted by run-scoring hits from
Joseph Guzman,
Jalen Inlow, and
Matt Rocco.
Snyder Pennington added a late two-run home run to seal the victory.
Jonathan Bowser earned the win on the mound, striking out seven over six innings.
Lyon responded in game two with an 8-2 victory despite a strong showing from
Jalen Inlow, who went 3-for-4 with an RBI double. Greenville struck first on a sacrifice fly from Pennington, but Lyon capitalized on key opportunities and broke the game open with a four-run ninth inning.
In the series finale, Lyon jumped out to an early lead, but Greenville battled back offensively in a 15-9 loss. The Panthers plated five runs in the sixth inning, with RBIs from
Carson Gates, Guzman, and Rocco, then added four more late runs. Rocco paced the offense with three hits and five RBIs, while
Parker Milligan scored three times.
Greenville's explosive bats throughout the series powered a hard-fought conference series.
