SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The powerlifting team traveled to Salt Lake City for University Nationals, showcasing some impressive performances and collecting three All-American titles.
How it Happened:
Quaid Schlanser competed in the 74kg weight class on day one, earning second place and All-American status with his total of 660kg.
On day two, five Panthers competed.
Makenzie Jones (277.5kg) led the pack, taking eighth place in the 69kg group, while
Madison Winterrowd (330kg) placed tenth in the 63kg weight class.
On the men's side,
Cole Browder placed fourteenth with a score of 635kg in the 83kg class, and
Jaylen Dumas posted a 607.5 in the same class.
Riley Poe rounded out the day with a 557.5 total score.
Jacob Van Gorkom represented GU on day three, tallying a 492.5 in the 93kg weight class for 22nd.
Day four consisted of two All-American performances, one from
Amaya Wade (515kg) in the 84+kg after she took second place and the other from
Cadin Colehour (795kg) in the 120kg division to take third.
Jaila Moore,
Mackenzie Shobe, and
Andre Townsend finished it out for the Panthers. Moore took sixth in the 84+kg group with a 452.5, while Shobe added a 435 to finish eighth in the same class. Townsend placed fifteenth in the 120kg with his total score of 577.5.
