CORTLAND, N.Y. – Senior
Amara Nelson traveled to SUNY Cortland for the NCAA Division III Nationals on Friday, making history and for the Panthers by capturing the National All-Around Title! She also earned the balance beam national title and a share of the floor exercise national title to cap off an outstanding performance.
How It Happened:
Nelson opened the competition with a career-high 9.625 on uneven bars. She followed with a 9.850 on balance beam, tying her career best and securing a first-place finish in the event.
She continued her strong showing with a 9.850 on floor exercise winning her a share of the title, before closing out the meet with a 9.700 on vault. Nelson's total score of 38.925 earned her the all-around title, making her the first gymnast in Greenville history to achieve the honor.
