Men's volleyball battles in mid-week tri-match

GREENVILLE, Ill. - Men's volleyball dropped two matches Wednesday evening at H.J. Long Gymnasium, starting off with an aggressive match against UHSP and a thriller versus Westminster. 
 
How it Happened:
 
In the first match, the Panthers fought against the high-level Eutectics. Greenville showed grit in the opening set 25-18, but overall fell short 3-0 to a tough UHSP offense.  
 
Tyrone Ealy led the Panthers with 16 kills, also picking up a service ace and four digs. Andrew Weir added five kills of his own, and Carson Hulsey had four. 
 
Greenville recorded a total of 31 kills, eight blocks, and 24 digs. Kevin McGhee Jr. carried the offense with 25 assists; Jay Ramirez led defense with 6 digs. 
 
In the second match, there was a strong start for the Panthers to open the match 25-16. Through a tough battle and overtime third set, Westminster was able to overcome and take the following three sets, finishing the match 3-1 over Greenville.  
 
Ealy led once again with 12 kills and four block assists; Hulsey added nine kills and Cortez Christmas followed suit with eight.  
 
Ramirez and Bo Parker took charge in the back row with 11 digs each, Weir controlled the net with a team-high five block assists, and McGhee led the team to 39 kills with his contribution of 34 assists. 
 
The Panthers move to 5-11 overall, showing steady improvement as they continue their season.

The Panthers (5-11) host another tri-match at home on Saturday with Eureka at 11am and Augustana at 3pm.
