Baseball concludes Florida trip with a split

DAVENPORT, Fla. - The baeball team split a pair of games in Florida to wrap up their spring break trip, bouncing back with a strong offensive performance against North Park after a tough loss to Wisconsin-Superior.

How it Happened:

In the first matchup, Greenville fell to Superior, 7–1, despite a solid showing at the plate. The Panthers recorded eight hits but struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities.

Alejandro Martinez led Greenville with two hits and scored the team's lone run, while Hunter Britz also added a pair of hits. Greenville started to break through in the ninth when Bryce Hayes drove in Martinez with a groundout, but the rally came up short. Jacob Cody took the loss on the mound, while Brady Weitzel, Austin Moses, and Gavin Ipanis combined for four scoreless innings in relief.

Greenville responded in a big way the next morning, defeating North Park 10–5 behind timely hitting and strong relief pitching. Snyder Pennington sparked the offense with two hits, two runs scored, two walks, and an RBI, while Landyn Smith delivered the biggest blow with a two-run double in the eighth inning.

Bryce Hayes and Matt Rocco each drove in a run as the Panthers pulled away late. After North Park grabbed a 5–3 lead in the fourth, Greenville answered with seven unanswered runs. Kale Cameron earned the win in relief, tossing 4.1 scoreless innings and striking out five to secure the victory.

Up Next:

The Panthers (6-10, 0-3 SLIAC) travel to Webster next weekend for a conference series against the Gorloks.
