GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's basketball team put together a strong performance but came up just short in an 84–78 loss to Lyon on Saturday afternoon at H.J. Long Gymnasium.
How it Happened:
The Panthers trailed for much of the contest before making a late push, outscoring Lyon 25–13 in the fourth quarter to turn the final minutes into a battle. Greenville shot an efficient 49.1% from the field and won the rebounding battle 42–37, keeping pressure on the visitors until the closing possessions.
Mia deJesus led the Panthers with 24 points and nine rebounds, attacking the lane consistently and setting the tone offensively.
Alyssa Seymour added 15 points and eight rebounds, while
Adeline Goheen provided a spark off the bench with 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting. Greenville also received solid contributions from its bench, outscoring Lyon 26–15 in reserve points.
Despite the final score, Greenville's balanced scoring, strong interior play, and late surge showcased the team's competitiveness as it continues SLIAC play.
