GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's basketball team pushed the league-leading Webster Gorloks to the limit Saturday afternoon, dropping a hard-fought 122–113 decision in front of a lively crowd at H.J. Long Gymnasium. The Panthers came out firing, scoring 67 first-half points and taking a 13-point lead into the break against the Gorloks.
How it Happened:
Brandon Tully led Greenville with 24 points, knocking down six three-pointers, while
Tim Lofton was nearly unstoppable off the bench with 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting.
Sheldon Grant II added 14 points and Taiemm Comeaux chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds to anchor the interior. Greenville finished with five players in double figures and totaled 51 bench points, showcasing impressive depth and balance.
Webster answered with a strong second half, but Greenville matched the top offense shot for shot throughout the contest. The Panthers also dominated the hustle categories, scoring 40 points off turnovers and grabbing 23 second-chance points. Despite the final margin, Greenville's performance signaled its ability to compete with the SLIAC's best.
