GREENVILLE, Ill. – The men's soccer team delivered a determined performance on Friday night but fell 2-0 to powerhouse, Wis.-Whitewater. Freshman goalkeeper
Tian Poyo anchored the Panthers' defense with seven saves, helping keep the match close deep into the second half.
How it Happened:
1st Half
The Panthers came out composed and focused, withstanding early pressure from the visiting Warhawks. Poyo made key stops in the 18th and 39th minutes, keeping the match level.
Greenville created a few quality opportunities on the other end, including shots from
Manolo Juarez and
Pedro Kamada, with Juarez forcing a save in the 30th minute.
Despite several UWW corner kicks and offensive pushes, the Panthers' back line stayed organized and disciplined throughout the half.
2nd Half
Greenville continued to compete aggressively, with Kamada and
Richard Kerwer putting shots on frame and helping create forward momentum.
The Panthers held strong defensively until the 68th minute, when UWW found the back of the net, and added a second just minutes later.
Greenville remained persistent in attack but was forced to finish the match with ten men after a red card in the 82nd minute.
Despite the setback, the team continued to press and showed toughness to the final whistle.

Greenville (1-2) will look to bounce back on the road when they face Aurora University on Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
