DUBUQUE, Iowa - Greenville University women's tennis opened their fall season with grit and momentum, splitting two road matches in Dubuque and showcasing their depth across the lineup.
How it Happened:
On August 30th, the Panthers battled Dubuque in a hard-fought 4-3 setback. Greenville gained early control in doubles, with
Emily Kowalke and
Ruthie Manor pulling out a 7-5 win at No. 2, while freshmen duo
Elena Warren and
Jaidyn Goode dominated 6-1 at No. 3.
In singles, No. 1 standout
Lanie Carder set the tone with a straight-sets victory, and
Lily Gregory sealed a clutch three-set win at No. 3.
Despite Greenville's fight, Dubuque edged out the match with narrow wins at the bottom of the lineup.
The Panthers quickly rebounded in their second match against Grand View, storming to a 6-1 victory. Greenville swept doubles behind Carder and Gregory's 7-6 thriller at No. 1, and earned a forfeit at No. 3.
In singles, Gregory continued her dominant form with a 6-2, 6-4 win, while Manor rolled 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4. Carder went to the tiebreak, but claimed the singles win at No. 1.Â
Goode and Warren added critical points through forfeits, clinching the team triumph.
With a 1-1 record, Greenville leaves Dubuque with confidence and momentum, proving their lineup is both resilient and deep heading into the fall slate.
