Women's tennis wins UMAC South Championship

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - After finishing first in the division, the women's tennis team was the number one seed in the UMAC South Tournament, sweeping Westminster and Webster to take the title. With this championship title, the Panthers have clinched a spot in the UMAC Championships. 

How it Happened:

Match 1 vs. Westminster

The Panthers dominated against the Blue Jays in the semifinals, sweeping the top four singles spots. 

Irlanda Oliver, Addison Brannon, Lanie Carder, and Callie Adkins all won their matches in two 6-0 sets. 

After securing the win in singles, the Panthers didn't compete in doubles. 

Match 2 vs. Webster

In the championship, the Panthers took the doubles point by winning two of the three doubles matches. 

Oliver and Emily Kowalke competed in the number one spot, but unfortunately dropped the match 6-1. 

Brannon and Carder won the number two doubles 6-3, while Adkins and Lily Gregory won the number three doubles 6-0.

The No. 1, No. 2, and No. 4 singles won their matches to secure the win for the Panthers. 

Oliver (#1) won her match in two, winning 6-2 and 6-3.

Brannon (#2) came out on top with a 6-3 and a 6-0 win, while Kowalke (#4) beat her opponent 6-4 and 6-2.

Up Next:

The Panthers compete in the UMAC Championships next weekend for the conference title.
