Greenville, Ill. – Despite an early offensive surge, Greenville was unable to hold off Millikin's explosive fifth inning, falling 15-9 at home on Wednesday evening. The Panthers built a commanding 7-1 lead, but a relentless Millikin offense proved costly.
How it Happened:
Millikin took an early lead in the top of the first after scoring one run. However, Greenville jumped ahead in the third inning with George Schneider's two-run homer.
The Panthers extended their lead in the fourth behind a three-run double from Snyder Pennington.
However, Millikin stormed back with an eight-run fifth inning, highlighted by a grand slam that shifted the momentum.
Schneider led Greenville with three RBIs, while Pennington also drove in three.
Despite the offensive output, four Panther errors and Millikin's 19-hit performance made the difference. Ty Kueper (0-2) took the loss in relief.
