Women's basketball heads to SLIAC quarter-finals

BATESVILLE, Ark. - The women's basketball team secured a spot in postseason play with a 10-8 SLIAC record. The Panthers sit in fifth as they enter the tournament after dropping their game against MUW and rallying late to beat Lyon.

How it Happened:

Game 1 vs. MUW

Despite a strong start, Greenville couldn't hold off MUW down the stretch, falling 72-65 in a hard-fought SLIAC contest on Thursday night.

The Panthers came out strong, leading 20-17 after the first quarter. However, MUW responded with a big second quarter to take a 39-35 lead into halftime.

Both teams struggled offensively in the third, scoring fourteen points each, but Greenville couldn't close the gap in the final period as MUW capitalized at the free-throw line.

Natalie Iberg led Greenville with sixteen points, while Carolina Hoffman added fourteen.

Savana Powell-Goodman chipped in ten while the team outrebounded MUW 46-52.

Game 2 vs. Lyon

The Panthers delivered a thrilling comeback victory against the Scots, outscoring Lyon 44-25 in the fourth quarter to secure a 105-102 road win.

Trailing by sixteen entering the final frame, Greenville refused to back down, attacking the basket and forcing key turnovers to shift momentum.

Alyssa Seymour dominated inside with 22 points and ten rebounds, while Hoffman added sixteen points and six assists.

Mya Mann and Iberg each contributed fifteen points, helping the Panthers shoot an efficient 50% from the field.

Greenville's relentless rebounding (43-33 edge) and aggressive play at the free-throw line (25-of-33) fueled their late-game surge.
