GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's gymnastics team posted their highest score of the season after hosting Springfield on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers defeated the Pride 308.350-301.250, collecting two event titles and four second-place spots.
How it Happened:
GU had a commanding performance in vault, posting a 54.800 and followed it with a 53.100 in the pommel horse.
Vault Highlights (54.800):
Jaxon Clapper was GU's best on vault, posting a 13.900 for second place.
Ricky Mays trailed closely with a 13.700, earning fourth.
Pommel Horse Highlights (53.100):
Matthew Roth brought home the pommel title for the Panthers, earning a mark of 14.100. Roth claimed a career and school record with his performance.
The rest of the Panthers followed in place with Koby Cantu at second (13.250), Henry Silva placing third (12.900), and Mays at fourth with a 12.850.
Floor Highlights (51.300):
Clapper also did well on floor with his 13.250 routine, placing second in the event.
Ethan Poole was the next best with his fourth-place standing (12.950).
Parallel Bars Highlights (51.150):
GU claimed the top three spots in the P Bars with Clapper as their leader. Clapper posted a 13.250 to claim the title, which is a season-high for him.
Jacob Foster filled the second-place spot with a 12.950, and Michael Avery was right behind him with a 12.600 at third.
High Bar Highlights (49.950):
Donovan Diviney took the silver in high bar with his 12.750, while Foster tied for third with a 12.600.
Rings Highlights (48.050):
Mays was the highest-scoring Panther in rings, receiving a 12.700 to place second.
