GREENVILLE, Ill. – Greenville women's soccer advances to the SLIAC Championship match after a hard-fought 1–0 semifinal victory over Westminster (MO) on Thursday afternoon at Francis Field. The Panthers combined defensive discipline with a moment of first-half brilliance to secure their place in the title game.
How it Happened:
1st Half
Greenville came out on the front foot, pressing high and creating early chances through
Allyson Schulz,
Angie Russo, and
Dillyn Baer.
The breakthrough arrived in the 22nd minute when Johnston Cabral curled a right-footed free kick off the post and into the lower left corner for a 1–0 lead.
Goalkeeper
Madison Ashford made several key saves to preserve the advantage heading into halftime.
2nd Half
The Panthers continued to generate opportunities, with shots from multiple panthers testing Westminster's defense.
Ashford stayed sharp between the posts, recording multiple saves to secure her shutout. Greenville's composure and organization in the closing minutes ensured the semifinal victory.
