Women's basketball shows depth in weekend matchups

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Greenville wrapped up its weekend at the Carver PE Center with two hard-fought performances, showing resilience and defensive grit despite falling to Concordia Wisconsin on Friday and host Augustana on Saturday.

How it Happened:

In Friday's 56–48 battle with Concordia Wisconsin, the Panthers leaned on senior leader Alyssa Seymour, who powered her way to 17 points and 8 rebounds, attacking the rim and earning frequent trips to the line (9-for-11 FT).

Morgan Alexander added 8 points, while Mya Mann chipped in 6, calmly sinking all six of her free throws. Greenville's rebounding stood out, collecting 42 boards and generating second-chance opportunities that kept the game within reach. A late fourth-quarter push, fueled by a 10-for-10 free-throw effort, showcased the Panthers' toughness and fight to the final whistle.

Saturday against Augustana, Greenville again displayed depth and determination in a 66–45 contest. Seymour remained steady with 8 points, while Amelia Shoemaker and Alaina Maurer provided sparks off the bench with 5 points each. Greenville's 22 bench points highlighted the program's growing depth, and a strong 19-point fourth quarter reflected the team's resilience and continued commitment to improving each outing.

Despite the setbacks, Greenville's effort, rebounding presence, and emerging bench production suggest a group ready to turn progress into victories as SLIAC play approaches.
