Strong Second Half Lifts Women's Soccer Past Spalding

GREENVILLE, Ill. – Greenville netted three goals in second half action on Saturday to help distance themselves 3-1 from the visiting Golden Eagles of Spalding University.

Junior Jackie Sievert led Greenville offensively. Sievert posted one goal on six shots to help the Panthers to the 3-1 home win.

Defensively senior Emily Rose earned the win, notching three saves while surrendering only one goal. Greenville allowed only five shots by the visiting Golden Eagles to help Rose in the winning effort.

After a scoreless first half, Greenville freshman midfielder Heather Wein opened second period play with an unassisted strike at 48:31 to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. After nearly a 35-minute drought, GC junior Jackie Sievert reopened the visiting net in the 84th minute as she buried a ball placed by fellow senior Rachel Irwin. Greenville would strike again minutes later at 86:01 when sisters Kayla and Kelsey Panzau hooked up for a game-punctuating goal. Spalding added a score in the 86th minute to avoid the shutout, but GC claimed the 3-1 conference win.

Greenville women's soccer will next battle Oakland City on Wednesday, October 5, as they travel to Indiana for a 1:00 pm duel.
