GREENVILLE, Ill. – On Senior Day inside H.J. Long Gymnasium, the Greenville men's basketball team treated its home crowd to a thrilling 121-113 victory over Eureka on Saturday afternoon. The win caps GU's regular season, giving the Panthers an 11-14 overall record and 9-7 in SLIAC play.
How it Happened:
Greenville came out firing, pouring in 67 first-half points behind a balanced offensive attack. The Panthers knocked down 13 three-pointers and shot 75 percent from the free-throw line, keeping pressure on Eureka in a fast-paced contest.
Tim Lofton and
Joseph Schreiber-Rivera each led the way with 15 points, while
Brandon Tully and
Newton Acevedo added 11 apiece to fuel the starting unit.
The Panthers' depth proved decisive, as the bench erupted for 65 points.
Caleb Johnson scored 12 off the bench,
Elliot Mobley added 11, and
Joshua Williford contributed 10, including an 8-for-8 effort from the line.
Greenville capitalized on second-chance opportunities and forced 19 steals, sealing an electric Senior Day win in front of a packed gym.
