Greenville hires Emma Helmkamp to start up STUNT

Greenville University Athletics is excited to announce the launch of our STUNT program, debuting in Spring 2027.

GREENVILLE, Ill. – Greenville University Athletics is excited to announce the launch of our STUNT program! Beginning competition in Spring 2027, STUNT will make a debut in Panther Athletics.

STUNT is one of the fastest-growing female sports in the country, focusing on the technical and athletic components of cheer. These skills are displayed with short routines in four-quarter head-to-head competitions.

To kickstart the program, the department has hired Emma Helmkamp as Head Stunt Coach.

"We're thrilled to have Emma join us to launch our new program. She brings the perfect blend of leadership, technical skill, and passion," says Stephanie Brant, Associate Director of Athletics and Director of Spirit Programs.

Helmkamp is a GU alum, graduating in 2025 with a degree in physical education. She brings a multitude of experience to the team after cheering for the Panthers for four years and dancing for two.

Helmkamp also has experience as a high school cheer coach, as she is in her third season of coaching at Mulberry Grove.

"I'm excited to start the new STUNT program at GU. It gives me the chance to build something special from the ground up and to create a team culture with a foundation of support, hard work, and faith," says Coach Helmkamp. "This place has meant a lot to me, so being able to give back through coaching is something I'm really passionate about."

She will spend the 2025-26 school year recruiting before welcoming athletes on campus in Fall 2026.
