ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The men's gymnastics team had eight Panthers qualify for the NCAA Championships, with three of them making it to the finals. Matthew Roth, Ricky Mays, and Donovan Diviney all qualified for the event finals with their outstanding performances in session one.
How it Happened:
Session I:
The Panthers had gymnasts competing in every event at the Championships.
On floor, Jaxon Clapper placed 20th with a 13.266, and Ethan Poole followed behind at 21st with his 13.23.
Roth and Andres Esquivel competed on the pommel horse, taking 11th and 24th place, respectively. Roth posted a 13.700 for 11th, and Equivel collected a 12.800.
On the rings, Poole took 21st with a 12.866 outing, while Mays trailed at 22nd with his 12.700.
Mays earned himself a spot at 10th in vault with a 13.966, and Clapper followed closely with a 13.833 (13th). Brayden Erickson took 31st after scoring an 11.633.
Diviney did outstanding on the p-bars, taking 8th with a 13.600 showing. Clapper also competed on the p-bars, placing 31st (11.033).
In the high bar, Jacob Foster scored a 12.066 for 24th, while Diviney placed 27th with an 11.500
Session II:
With his 11th-place finish in session one, Roth competed in the finals for the pommel horse, scoring a 13.033 (25th).
Mays competed on vault after finishing 10th in the qualifying round. He posted a 13.333 for 35th.
Lastly, Diviney represented the Panthers on the parallel bars after his top ten finish in the first session. Diviney collected an 11.833 (36th).
