GREENVILLE, Ill. – The baseball team struggled to find their rhythm Thursday night, falling 7-1 to Rose-Hulman in a tough non-conference matchup at home. Despite an early lead, the Panthers' bats fell silent as the Engineers pulled away late.
How it Happened:
Greenville struck first in the opening frame when Michael Gibson delivered an RBI double to center, scoring Matt Rocco for a 1-0 lead.
However, the Engineers responded quickly with a solo homer in the second, then had some timely hitting in the fifth and sixth innings to break the game open.
Greenville starter Dax Bailey kept it close through four innings, only allowing one run.
Gibson led the team at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles.
Miggy Villalobos and Landyn Smith accounted for the other two Panther hits, each collecting a double.
Now at 5-5 on the season, Greenville looks to bounce back in their next outing.
Up Next:
The Panthers (5-5) travel to Florida to play six games over spring break. Their first matchup is against Central (IA) on Monday morning.
