Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's basketball takes Co-Champion title for SLIAC regular season

BATESVILLE, Ark. - The men's basketball team became co-champions for the regular season after their 113-104 win against Lyon! With this win, they also took the number one seed to host the tournament. Before beating the Scots, the Panthers took down MUW 127-102 Thursday evening.

How it Happened:

Game 1 vs. MUW

The Panthers flexed their offensive firepower once again, overwhelming MUW on the road to secure their 15th conference win of the season.

From the opening tip, Greenville's high-tempo attack proved too much for the Owls to handle. The Panthers raced to a 66-47 halftime lead behind the sharpshooting of Adrian Alvarez, who poured in 27 points while knocking down four three-pointers.

Carlos Crespo added seventeen points, while the team as a whole drained eighteen threes and dished out 22 assists.

Greenville's relentless pressure was a game-changer, forcing 35 MUW turnovers and converting them into easy transition buckets. Defensively, the Panthers tallied nineteen steals, stifling any comeback attempt.

Game 2 vs. Lyon

GU met the challenge when facing Lyon to take the SLIAC regular season title.

The Panthers wasted no time establishing control, erupting for 68 first-half points to build a commanding 13-point lead at the break.

Though Lyon attempted to rally in the second half, Greenville's high-tempo play and sharp shooting ensured they remained in control.

Ja'Rod Webb led the charge with 21 points, sinking 5-of-6 from three-point range. Alvarez added fifteen points, also knocking down five threes, while Isaiah Griffin contributed thirteen points and strong defensive play.

The Panthers' teamwork was on full display, tallying an impressive 30 assists.

Vincent Rodriguez collected two steals against the Scots, putting him at 103 for the season. By posting this stat, Rodriguez broke the all-time Greenville record for steals in a single season!
