LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The men's basketball team traveled to Georgia for two showdowns against Piedmont and Covenant. The Panthers came up just short in a nail-biting 131-128 loss to Piedmont and bested Covenant 118-96.
How it Happened:
Game 1 vs. Piedmont
Despite a strong offensive performance, highlighted by Adrian Alvarez's 28-point explosion, the Panthers couldn't overcome Piedmont's second-half surge.
Alvarez was on fire, draining nine three-pointers, with Grimmett Glenn close behind. Glenn collected 23 points, including seven threes.
However, the team struggled with shooting efficiency, finishing at just 42.1% from the field and 34.5% from beyond the arc.
Tim Lofton led the team defensively with 8 rebounds, while Kiarie Patrick and Tahj Comeaux put seven each.
Game 2 vs. Covenant
Greenville had a dominant second-half performance to win the game.
After trailing 56-49 at halftime, the Panthers exploded for 69 points in the final frame, led by Ja'Rod Webb's and Alvarez's 19 points each, and Kiarie Patrick's 16.
Vincent Rodriguez also had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds with an impressive five steals.
