Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's basketball falls at Webster in regular season finale

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The men's basketball team came up short against Webster on Saturday as they lost 128-109 in a game that determined the host of the SLIAC tournament.  With two wins over Greenville this season, Webster took the SLIAC tournament hosting rights that Greenville held over the last two seasons.

The Panthers are not yet prevented from winning a fourth straight SLIAC league championship.  A Webster loss to Principia on Monday night would place the teams in a tie for the top position.

As was the case in the previous matchup this season, Webster protected the basketball and ended with just 24 turnovers in the game.  Greenville's goal is to reach or exceed 32 turnovers for their opponents.

Greenville trailed 64-50 at halftime and tightened the deficit to less than 10 points in the second half.

Eric Wiliams was the leading scorer for the Panthers with 25 points.  He also added seven rebounds.

Johari Dix filled the stats sheet with 22 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, and three steals.

Austyn Contreras hit six three-pointers to finish with 18 points, and Isiah Price had 12 points.

The Panthers (17-8, 14-4 SLIAC) will play Eureka at 6 p.m. on Friday at Webster in the semifinal of the SLIAC tournament.
