LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The baseball team traveled to Louisville on Thursday and were defeated 6-4 by No. 18 Spalding.  The Panthers received three hits from Austin Marsh, and Bryce Pearce struck out eight over five innings while limiting Spalding to two earned runs.

Spalding took the early lead with a run in the second inning and three in the third for a 4-0 advantage.

The Panthers rallied against Spalding's star pitcher Jimi Keating in the fourth and fifth innings with three runs.

Andrew Torbeck recorded a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning, and C.J. Falls produced an RBI single later in the inning.

In the fifth inning, Marsh knocked in a run with a single to make the score 4-3.

Spalding increased their lead with a run in the fifth and one in the eighth for a 6-3 lead.

Grant Carman produced an RBI groundout in the ninth, and the tying run was at bat when the game concluded.

The Panthers (8-11, 3-3 SLIAC) face Spalding in doubleheader on Friday.
